Judge Brian Martinotti held a case management conference for the Elmiron MDL class action lawsuit last week. The meeting covered housekeeping issues and logistics for document discovery from Janssen Pharmaceuticals. It also established the process for selecting bellwether cases. Judge Martinotti will hold case management conferences each month through 2022 and 2023.

Plaintiffs in Elmiron lawsuits will be grouped into different settlement tiers based on the severity of their injuries. There may also be a points system used to determine how much each plaintiff will receive. The top tier will be for plaintiffs who have sustained the greatest extent of impairment. Lower tiers will be for plaintiffs who experienced less severe impairment.
