Several of the companies on the list are among the world’s largest by revenue or market cap, including Walmart, McDonald’s, Costco, CVS, and Shell.
Where do mushrooms come from?
These stores are able to draw people in because they have something special about them, whether it is an amazing location or unique design features. The list is curated by retail consultants and includes iconic stores such as the Apple store in New York City, which is one of the most spectacular buildings in the world, or Printemps, the French department store known for its luxury goods.
Some of the most popular stores are also among the most visited chains in the United States. For example, a majority of Americans visit a Walmart in a given month. Others like to shop at drugstores, including CVS and Walgreens.
We compiled the list by reviewing foot traffic data from Placed Insights, which monitors on a monthly basis hundreds of thousands of locations across the country. We used this information to calculate the share of shoppers who have a positive opinion about each store. The rankings for the most popular stores also take into account the number of locations each chain has in the United States. This allows us to identify the most popular stores that are accessible to the largest number of Americans.
